Leaving us a Gift in Your Will

Leave a gift in your will to Beaumond House and help bring forward the day when we can achieve our dream

Many people from Newark and the surrounding area have been touched by the work of Beaumond House.

When Hospice Aid in Newark, now Beaumond House Community Hospice, was launched in 1987, we had no building and no beds.

Leave a gift in your will to Beaumond House and help bring forward the day when we can achieve our dream... Thanks to the amazing and continued support of local people, since 1987 we have come a long way and have supported thousands of local people.

Gifts left in wills to Beaumond House during this time have made a significant difference to our ability to reach out and support more and more local people.

We believe that the care provided by Beaumond House is second to none and that it should be available to everyone who would like to be supported by us. Case Study - George Herbert

Mr George Herbert Hindson passed away on 29th January 2013, but on his 88th birthday Beaumond House offered a huge hand of support and strength when the family and friends of George were in their darkest hour and frankly at their wits end. As a result of the compassion and kindness shown to him he immediately altered his Will to make Beaumond House a sole beneficiary of his estate. Towards the end of his life George had clearly expressed his wish to die at home in Newark. Sadly the care plan put in place for him failed leaving him and his closest family members distressed and highly concerned.

The words below come from Paul Meadows a close family member.

“Having made all of the appropriate calls but to no avail, in desperation, we got in the car and drove to Beaumond House. I only had to mention my name and the name of the patient and we were welcomed with open arms. Within minutes of arriving we were ushered into a private room and listened to intently, about the day’s events. Having heard our story, the staff volunteered to try and sort matters out for us, the offer of which was hugely appreciated.
We were not known to Beaumond House and without their intervention in our hour of need we would not have had the benefit of being with George for the extra 10 days after his birthday. A truly exemplary service to which the family and I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude. Nothing was too much trouble”.

How do I go about making a will?
Making a will is not neccesarily expensive, complicated or time-consuming. We would strongly recommend going to a solicitor for professional, reliable advice in drawing up your will. The cost of putting a single simple will in place using a Solicitor will cost you around £200 inclusive of VAT. When you instruct a Solicitor they will agree the charges with you at the outset. We have listed some local Solicitors who have partnered with Beaumond House. Each of them will make a donation to us for every will made during our promotion period.*

What if I already have a will?
It is very important to keep your will up to date. Altering an existing will can be done simply by adding a codicil. This is a separate legal document witnessed in its own right. Again, consulting with a solicitor is the best way to add a codicil and ensure it is legally binding. A codicil must be kept with your Will but not attached to it.

How do I word a legacy or codicil?
To ensure that no problems arise when the will is executed, the wording used must include the name Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark and our charity number which is 1025442.
