This week is Dying Matters Awareness Week ‘Talk, Plan, Live’
Talking about dying may not always be easy, but it can help you to make the most of life and to support those who care about you.
If you want to find out further information, resources and services that can help, there will be a number of displays, interactive activities and sessions in Newark this week.
Monday 18th May - ASDA, Newark from 10.00am - 4.00pm
Tuesday 19th May - Newark Library from 10.00am (stand in library near help desk and room booked for private discussion)
Tuesday 19th May - Lifespring Centre, Ollerton from 12.00pm - 4.00pm (stand in foyer)
Wednesday 20th May - Soutwhell Library from 10.00am - 12.00pm
Thursday 21st May - Beaumond House Resource Centre from 10.00am - 4.00pm
Friday 22nd May - Tesco, Blidworth from 10.00am - 4.00pm
*Dying Matters encourages you to take 5 simple steps to make end of life experience better for all*
Step one... Write your will
Step two… Record your funeral wishes so your family know what you would like
Step three… Plan your future care and support – for example, set up a Lasting Power of Attorney and write an advance care plan
Step four… consider registering as an organ donor – decide whether you want to join the organ donor register or even leave your body to science, and share that decision with your loved ones.
Step five… Tell your loved ones your wishes – you may find it easiest to start talking about what you wouldn’t want rather than what you do. Talk to your family and friends, as well as your GP or other health & care professionals.
