Christmas at Beaumond House - Creating Moments That Matter
Christmas at Beaumond House is a time filled with warmth, tradition and gentle joy. Our hospice is a truly special place - a place of peace, love and laughter, where families can be together, often during the most precious moments of their lives. Here, care doesn’t pause for the festive season. It continues, day and night, with compassion at its heart. For many families, Christmas at the hospice may be the last they spend together, and we do everything we can to make it meaningful. The...

The Gift of Presence - Christmas at Beaumond House
At Christmas, we are surrounded by symbols of light. Candles in windows, stars upon trees, lanterns guiding us through the dark. These lights remind us of hope, of love, of the warmth that endures even in the coldest of winters. In the hospice, we learn that light takes many forms. It shines in the gentle touch of a nurse, in the quiet patience of a volunteer, in the kindness of staff who make space for families to gather. It glows in the laughter shared at a bedside, in the tears that fall...

Understanding Life, Laughter and Loss in Hospice Care
People often ask me how I do the job I do. How I go to work facing the possibility of death on a regular basis. They ask how I do a job that would be hard enough anyway but throw in adverse personal circumstances. Personally, I think if you ask most of us at Beaumond House our experiences are the driving factor for working in Palliative Care. How I see it... I may not be the best Nurse clinically nor the one who shows the most empathy and certainly do not come to me for a hug. But I feel...

Marian’s Journey - Courage, Comfort and Care at Home
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2018, Marian was given four to eight months to live. Following the diagnosis, the family soon realised that Marian had been misdiagnosed for some years. Once they got over the initial shock, Marian’s attitude switched to ‘We have a lot to fit in then’ and that is exactly what they did. Marian and husband Les bought a boat and enjoyed days out until that became too much. They swapped the boat for a car, and then the car for a van big enough to transport the...

We’ve secured match...

Dot's Story
Although Dot’s children had known about Beaumond House for most of their lives, they never truly understood the depth of support it offered until the moment they needed it themselves.

Staff spotlight on Nicki, Healthcare Assistant
We are delighted to introduce Nicki, one of the newest members of our Hospice at Home team. With a nursing career that began in the early nineties, I have worked in a variety of settings, from stroke rehabilitation to gynaecology emergencies. After choosing to focus on raising my children while running my own craft business and working as a childminder, I was keen to return to my nursing roots. When a vacancy arose at Beaumond House, I was excited to apply. I had always loved palliative care...

Sue’s Journey: Family, Friends, and the Hospice That Felt Like Home
Sue was a mum, Granny (Nee Nee), sister, mother-in-law and friend. She was a proud dog mum to Treacle and they loved their trips down to Dorset to walk along the Studland Bay beach. Sue was caring, loving and always willing to help those closest to her and help fix problems for others, whether that was fixing a plug or just listening to a friend offload their problems and worries. Sue never put herself first and as a family we are honoured to have had such an amazing woman in our lives. Sue...
