Forever Fund - Keeping Care Free

Beaumond House Hospice Care has teamed up with Nottinghamshire Hospice to launch a Forever Fund Appeal.

We are asking people to pledge a small regular monthly amount and so safeguard our special care. Even a small regular donation makes a huge difference to families.

During the pandemic traditional day services were postponed but both hospices expanded the care their provide in patients’ homes. As restricted lifted this summer both have reopened their buildings to patients.

At Beaumond House day therapy services are resuming gradually and a new garden therapy room has been installed in our garden. It will be used for bereavement support, wellbeing and complementary therapy for patients and carers.

During the pandemic both hospices worked together to deliver care to patients including Ian from Newark.

When he was diagnosed with terminal cancer he decided he wanted to spend his remaining days in the family home that he loved so much.

His GP initiated input from various agencies, co-ordinated via the mid-Notts Palliative Care team. It was through them that his family learned about our wonderful Hospice at Home team.

They provided care on a day-to-day basis while Nottinghamshire Hospice provided nursing care at night.

Ian’s daughter Emily said Beaumond House Hospice at Home team were supremely professional and it was clear that for them it was not just a job.

“They were so dedicated and carried out their role with a lightness of touch that meant dignity, respect and comfort were always foremost in all their actions, there was also a healthy dose of humour.

“Our father was very independent and they made sure he was very much front and centre in everything they did.”

Cathy Lowe, fundraising and marketing manager at Beaumond House, said the experiences of so many people during the pandemic has highlighted the importance of fulfilling the last wishes of loved ones.

“This is a vital part of accepting the death of a loved one and we have also seen how painful it can be when we can’t do this,” she said.

“With your support our work helps people to plan, have conversations about their wishes and brings dignity in dying, which is vitally important for everyone.”
