Beaumond House

How Beaumond House Charity Shops Help You Reduce Waste Whilst Raising Funds

Our Beaumond House charity shops in Newark, Collingham and Southwell are full of quality clothing and accessories at very competitive prices.

Most people have unwanted clothing that they no longer wear in their wardrobes. These items can easily be turned into funds to help support the work of Beaumond House by donating them at our charity shops rather than throwing them away when they end up in landfill.

The UK, approximately 350,000 tonnes of clothing waste are sent to landfill each year. This not only wastes valuable resources but also adds to the environmental impact through landfill pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

It’s really easy to make a positive impact and reduce textile waste and landfill by having a clear out of your clothing and donating it to our shops. We welcome handbags, jewellery, shoes and all other accessories. We recently had a customer who bought a whole wedding outfit from one of our shops, including a hat and shoes, and then re-donated it as so many people complimented her on what she was wearing !

Where possible we ask donors to register with us to be a Gift Aid donor. If you are a UK taxpayer you are eligible to participate in the scheme.

We are always happy to take donations of bric-a-brac, kitchen equipment, electrical items, in working order, and furniture. We offer a free collection service for furniture which can be arranged by contacting the Beaumond House Donation Centre, in Asda car park, on 01636 700003.

As some donations can achieve a higher selling price online we have an eBay shop where we sell memorabilia, higher value items and the weird and wonderful! We also sell books and clothing online to ensure that we achieve the best prices for each and every item donated.

However, not all items that are donated are suitable for sale because they are damaged, dirty or on our list of items that we are not able to sell. This list includes -amongst other things - any nursery equipment, helmets, foot spas and other beauty items, real furs, and weapons of any description.

Our shops work hard to promote the Three R’s:

  • Reduce – use less products

  • Reuse – use items again instead of sending to landfill

  • Recycle – turn unwanted items into new products

If you have queries about whether we can accept items that you would like to donate, please call any of our shops to check before you bring them in. Items that we are unable to sell in our shops are sent to a recycling company to be recycled or sent to other countries to be reused.
